Bren and her long time friend, Nicole have put together a rhyming book they had written in 2006. Though first imagined for children, it soon revealed itself as a book for adults as well.  It’s a picture book for readers of all ages.

It’s an endearing look at friendship and its heartfelt meaning between a POODLE and a HORSE. Nicole and Bren, each having three kids all close in age, wrote this book in the midst of raising them in the small town of Gunnison, Colorado. Both worked in the valley and graduated from Western State College.

A playful, whimsical tale with a softly bittersweet heart – about trust and life’s recurring moments – paired with black-and-white illustrations superimposed over contemporary paintings by Bren Corn, lending a deliberate lightness to the work.

The index of paintings adds to the sophistication of the book along with  some advanced vocabulary to encourage curiosity, conversation, and learning through discovery.
